Working with minority faith communities |
Awareness of multi-faith issues in Cumbria
- The overwhelming majority of people of faith in Cumbria are Christians.
- No other faith group comprises more than 0.2% of the county's population (1000 individuals).
- However small minority groups can easily feel isolated or excluded and it is important to be aware of their needs when working with faith communities.
- There are three non-Christian places of worship in Cumbria; theĀ Manjushri Buddhist Centre near Ulverston, and a mosque and Buddhist centre in Carlisle.
The Faith Matters booklet, Understanding Faiths, is a practical guide to working with all faith communities.
