| Working with minority faith communities |
|
The overwhelming majority of people of faith in Cumbria are Christians. No other faith group comprises more than 0.2% of the county's population (1000 individuals). However small minority groups can easily feel isolated or excluded and it is important to be aware of their needs when working with faith communities. The Faith Matters booklet, Understanding Faiths, is a practical guide to working with all faith communities. There are three non-Christian places of worship in Cumbria; the Manjushri Buddhist Centre near Ulverston, and a mosque and Buddhist centre in Carlisle. |
