The Faith Sector is part of the Third Sector |
Traditionally and historically churches in Britain have been crucial to the development of health, welfare and education: providing schools and training; almshouses and care for the elderly; and in a whole range of other care and support for disadvantaged groups.
Community groups, the voluntary sector and not-for-profit organisations are now referred to as the Third Sector, of which the Faith Sector is an important part.
If you are interested in how the faith sector is recognised by government see the Northwest Forum of Faiths website.
