University of Cumbria
The University of Cumbria offers volunteering opportunities to its students based at its campuses in Carlisle, Penrith and Ambleside. It also has students based in the Whitehaven area. The volunteer coordinator Emma Egglestone, will try to match volunteers with specific volunteering opportunities.
If you have an idea for a one-off event which could require a number of students for a day long activity - for example, clearing or planting the churchyard, she may be able to help organise this.
For other information see the University of Cumbria Website

Lancaster University may also be able to provide volunteers in Cumbria to specific placements usually for a limited time period only. Lancaster University focuses a lot of its volunteering efforts on new and creative projects such as its Voltage project which is about helping young people to set up social enterprises, such as a fair trade stalls. If you have a placement opportunity you could first look at their website to see the kind of thing that students get involved with.
