Heritage Open Days is an annual event organised by the Civic Trust each September, and takes place form Thursday 9 to Sunday 12 September 2010.
It is well publicised locally and nationally and provides a unique opportunity to encourage people to visit your church building.
We suggest, as a starting point, opening your church on the Saturday from 10am to 6pm. This coincides with the Ride and Stride fundraising event. If you will be stewarding the church, your volunteers will be able to welcome people participating in both events.
Registration for Heritage Open Days is straightforward and takes place between March and May each year. Buildings registered by the end of March get an entry in a printed guide to Heritage Open Days in Cumbria which is distributed through Tourist Information Centres, Libraries etc.
Late registrations are usually accepted until August although it is best to register as soon as possible for maximum publicity.
In Cumbria the Heritage Open Day Coordinator is retiring from her voluntary post after this year and is looking for a replacement. Click here for details.
